The ritualistic ballet between the North Koreans and the West has reached a dangerous pitch, which revolves around three fundamental principles for the belligerents. The North Koreans attack, the West condemns. North Korea follows this by attacking again and destroying military property; now the West strongly condemns. The North Koreans attack a third time, destroying large tracts of property, killing soldiers and injuring civilians; this time the West strongly condemns in the most vigorous manner. Maybe now it is time to stop this dangerous boogie before very bad things start to happen.

Attack #1, Missile Launch Toward Hawaii

On July 4 2009 the BBC reported, “North Korea has test-fired four short range missiles [and]…three surface-to-ship missiles…near the port of Wonsan.” They had threatened to fire long-range intercontinental ballistic missiles toward the US State of Hawaii. Americans had been on alert for over a month.

On June 19, 2009 US News and World Reports correspondent Queenie Wong quoted Defense Secretary Robert Gates as saying “the United States is prepared if North Korea test-fires a missile toward the island….‘We do have some concerns if they were to launch a missile . . . in the direction of Hawaii,’ Gates said. ‘We are in a good position…to protect American territory’."
